Day by Day Program for a unique Uganda Safari with Gorilla Tracking and Chimpanzee Tracking

Day 1 – Arrival Day

arrival in Entebbe, Airport shuttle to your lodge

Overnight: good midrange lodge – Meal Plan BB

Day 2– Shoebill Boatrip and transfer to Rhino Sanctuary

Early morning Shoebill boattrip  in Mabamba Swamps (can be done as well on last day) or late breakfast  and transfer to Ziwa  Rhino Sanctuary - optional nature or nocturnal walk in Ziwa possible

Day 3 – Walking with Rhinos and transfer to Murchison Falls NP

Early  morning walking Safari with Rhinos, see the White Rhinos very close during a guided walking Safari. Then proceed with a picnic at the top of the Murchison Falls viewpoint to Murchison Park. Afternoon Game Drive in Murchison Falls NP - you may be lucky and complete the spotting of all Big Five on your day 2 or3!

In no other African country you discover as many different animals per day as in Uganda.

Day 4 – Murchison Falls NP with Nile River Boat Cruise

Game drive in Murchison Falls NP the morning, lunch break either at a Picnic Site or in the lodge,  Boat trip on River Nile to Murchison Falls in the afternoon. See hippos, crocodiles, elephants, a variety of birds and much more.

Day 5 – Transfer to Kibale, the home of Chimps

After a short game drive in the morning or the optional boat safari to the Nile Delta at Lake Albert, you will be transferred to Kibale, 6-7 hours drive on a scenic road along tea plantations and nice landscape.

Day 6 – Bigodi Wetlands and Chimpanzee Tracking

In the morning easy walking safari in Bigodi Wetlands  to watch endemic monkeys, birds with explanation of animals and local  vegetation by a local guide.

Locallunch with explanations of Ugandan traditional food at Tinka's.

In the afternoon the optional Chimpanzee Tracking (permit costs 200$)

If you are not tracking the Chimps, you can relax or do birding in the lodge or enjoy a scenic hike or hike to the Top of the World crater lakes.

Day 7– Transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP

 transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP. You will stop at a beautiful crater lake and visit from there a vanilla plantation community project where the best organic vanilla is produced and the entire process is explained to the guests. Afterwards some banana markets (Matoke) will be passed - photo stop!. Today we organise a local lunch for you.  Before reaching the lodge, your driver will make a stop at Twin Lakes View Point before reaching the lodge. This can also be done the next day. The lodge is beautifully situated with  pool and views over the national park.

Day 8 - Queen Elizabeth NP with Kazinga Channel Boat Trip

Game Dive in the morning followed by one of the highlight attractions in Uganda, the Kazinga Channel boat cruise.

Options for the morning: Chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura (+60$) orl Lion/Predator Tracking (+120$). You are allowed to follow the tracking vehicle which brings you close to lions and leopards. A unique chance to spot them close in QE Park.

Day 9 – Transfer to Bwindi, the home of Mountain Gorillas

transfer to Bwindi via a very scenic road. When you start early  the lion tracking can be done today as well or you may pass Ishasha Sector of QE for a game drive. You will reach either Rushaga Gate, Ruhjia Gate or Buhoma Gate  in Bwindi depending on the available gorilla permits.

Day 10 – Gorilla Tracking Day in Bwindi, the home of Mountain Gorillas

Your Gorilla Tracking Day  (permit costs 700$)  This will be a magic encounter with your cousins, the Mountain Gorillas.

For those who are not tracking a  guided Community and Nature walk  can be arranged  (extra cost 20$ outside the NP, as birding walk inside the NP it is 90$)

Day 11 – Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After a relaxed breakfast  transfer to beautiful Lake Bunyonyi along a scenic road – transfer time 3-5 hours.  lunch picnic at a view point overlooking the lake. Afterwards you go by boat to the lodge, which is located on the shores of the lake. The lake is very clean and safe for swimming.  Your lodge is situated on water level with very good swimming possibilities from its private swimming deck.

Day 12 - Lake Bunyonyi Boat Trip

a day on and around Lake Bunyonyi. Our local boat guide is available from 9:30. The program includes a boat tour, picnic lunch with Lunch Pack from your lodge on Sharp Island with lush vegetation, short to moderate hikes on request, visit to the island hospital and/or a school. In addition, you can book activities in the climbing park, such as zip line over the lake or the giant swing. Stand-up paddling or canoing can also be booked. Our boatman advises on this.

Day 13 – Transfer to Lake Mburo NP

Transfer to Lake Mburo NP with afternoon game drive. Longhorn cattle, so-called Ankole cattle, are bred around Lake Mburo. The national park is a small but extraordinarily beautiful park. The only one with zebras on this trip. But also giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes including eland antelopes and impalas and much more. It is also a top destination for bird watchers. In the afternoon, instead of a game drive, you can also order horseback riding or cycling in the park or a walking safari. This must be booked a few days in advance and costs extra (price depends on the time spent). Lake Mburo is as well a top birding destination.

Day 14 – Game Drive and Transfer to Entebbe - possibility to fly home in the evening

Early morning  game drive.

Transfer to Entebbe via the Equator Memorial , lunch stop there and an optional stop at a drum manufacturer. They expect a tip for the visit with explanations. But there is also a drum session to participate in... Back in Entebbe at around 5 p.m. 

If your flight back starts in the evening we might drop  you at the Airport.
